IgniteHER is on a mission to empower young women worldwide. With a global network of over 60 chapters in 19 countries, we are creating a movement of girls who stand up for equity, leadership, and self-expression.
Together with our passionate community and dedicated partners, we are making a difference every day. We believe in the power of empowered girls to reshape the world for the better.

Get to know the diverse team of young women leading IgniteHER.


Executives

Cindy Chen

A high school junior from LA and lifelong activist, she transformed the social anxiety and stereotypes she faced into a force for change by founding the IgniteHER Project to empower young women. A Speech and Debate Academic All-American, founder of the Evergreen Debate Institute, and Youth Task Force Leader for the UN Association LA, she is committed to shaping the next generation of female leaders.

Nancy Javkhlan

A high school senior from Los Angeles, co-founded the IgniteHER Project to explore feminism through the lens of language, inspired by her experiences in speech and debate. An accomplished speaker, she is an International Public Speaking Champion, 2x National Speech and Debate Qualifier, and captain of her school’s Debate and Track and Field teams.


Paige Tang

A high school senior from Los Angeles, co-founded IgniteHER to empower young women and challenge harmful narratives, drawing inspiration from her experiences with societal misogyny in China and the United States. She is also an assistant coach at Nova 42, a speech and debate academy, and serves as the editor-in-chief of her school’s newsroom, contributing to HS Insiders with the LA Times.

Opperations

The backbone of IgniteHER, ensuring smooth internal processes, organizational efficiency, and leading our chapters.

Angela Jiang 

A high school junior from Singapore, currently studying in Hong Kong. Driven by her commitment to feminism and social justice, she joined us and she also founded IgniteHER Hong Kong and Singapore.

Chloe Cannon

Based in Lewisville, Texas, she is deeply committed to advocacy, youth empowerment, and inclusive leadership. Chloe has also spoken at HERpower conferences, sharing her passion for leadership and advocacy.


Destiny Sumani

A junior in high school from Houston, Texas, she supports us in different teams. She also oversees chapters across Canada, South America, and Africa, working to support their campaign goals, and maintain engagement.

Farida Abbas

A Year 9 student based in the UAE who pledged IgniteHER striving for an opportunity to obtain knowledge and experiences as well as dedicating her responsibility and role to advocating and empowering young girls to speak out and express themselves in the most authentic way.

Shravya Kondeppady


Shravya Maloo

A high school freshman from Sammamish, Washington, who is passionate about building women up and helping them thrive in today’s challenging world. She is also an active participant in DECA, the Technology Student Association, and Debate Club at her school. 


Finance

Overseeing budgeting and fundraising efforts to sustain and grow IgniteHER’s initiatives.

Arshiya Malik

A high school junior from Ontario, Canada. Feeling inspired by IgnietHER’s mission she joined the team in January 2025. Outside of IgniteHer, she is passionate about STEM, specifically technology and is a part of her school’s robotics team.

Titilola Opanubi

A high school senior from Los Angeles, California. She joined the team because she wanted to be more involved in feminism while doing the things she loves. In addition, she has been an active participant in Key Club, and created and is president of her school’s Black Student Union.

Publications

Conducting research and publishing insightful papers to drive conversations on gender equity.

Manvitha Narasimhan

A junior from Bentonville, Arkansas, hoping to pursue a career in politics. Outside of IgniteHER, you can find her practicing the violin or participating in speech and debate, DECA, and advocating for civic engagement among Arkansan youth.

Policy

Advocating for gender equity by collaborating with legislators, lobbying, drafting, and endorsing impactful legislation.

Varnika Ravivarma

A sophomore in high school from Cary, North Carolina, and joined the IgniteHER team in August 2024. She has developed an interest in politics and has witnessed gender inequality within her community, both in the United States and in Tamil Nadu, India, which inspired her to use policy as a tool for change.

Jessica Craig

Siddhi Rane

A junior in high school from New Jersey. She loves helping others in various ways, whether that’s through volunteering at her local food pantry or at a hospital near her. 


Melissa Merizalde

A senior from New York. She hopes to be able to collaborate and advocate for women empowerment and policy.


Tech

Innovating and maintaining our digital platforms to support IgniteHER’s growth.

Anita Pahangdar

A high school senior from Ontario, Canada, serving as the Tech Director of IgniteHER, where she leverages technology to amplify women's voices and advocate for gender equity. Passionate about education and accessibility, she is also the Outreach Director of STEMBuddies, a nonprofit empowering underprivileged students, and actively leads initiatives to promote equal opportunities in STEM and beyond.

Chaitra Sure

A high school sophomore from Los Angeles, California. She joined the IgniteHER team as a Finance Director, and has transitioned to the Tech team since then. She is passionate about Artificial Intelligence and Public Policy, and is excited to make change through this organization.

Social media

Amplifying IgniteHER’s mission through engaging content and digital advocacy.

Xiomara Lopez

A high school senior from Los Angeles, California, passionate about using design and social media to amplify powerful stories. As a strong advocate for gender equity, she believes that feminism is for everyon, regardless of gender.


Iarina Man

A high school senior from Cluj-Napoca, Romania, driven by a passion for community engagement and empowerment. Growing up in a male-dominated environment, she joined IgniteHER to make a global impact through woman-to-woman empowerment.
